Silhouette

Silhouette is the foundation of style. It is the "structure" that you were born with -- your bone structure, your outline or shadow.  It is completely unique to you and it will determine the main cuts and styles that will fit your silhouette in a way to reach your unique style goals.

Here we first explore the idea of silhouette then at the end you provide information through the online form that we will use to define your silhouette.  A stylist from our team will analyze the information and then share the specific details you need for your perfect fit and cut to meet your goals.

Leonardo da Vinci Vitruvian Man Ideal Proportions of the Human Body

As Vitruvius pointed out long ago, balance and symmetry are visually pleasing to the human eye.

While very few of us are naturally symmetrical, we can use clothing to create the illusion.  We can define the shoulder, narrow the waist, accentuate the hip using clothing and accessories to draw or distract the eye.  Even though this may feel counterintuitive, adding volume where you're smaller to balance proportions can actually make the body look longer & leaner, while removing volume can create a rounder, curvier look.

Size is irrelevant when we look at silhouette, it is all about relative proportions; where you are wider or narrower and where you are shorter or longer. Are your hips broader or narrower than your shoulders? even if both are small.  As Coco Chanel famously said Fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions."

To find out how the areas of your body are naturally balancing, we will use your Horizontal and Vertical proportions as a guide. It can be difficult to categorize bodies and especially hard to stay objective about our own bodies. This is where we can step in and help.  And don't worry!  We are here to help define your unique body type and proportions and then use this information to provide tools and guidance to reach your unique style goals.

Hint: This quiz section includes photos and measurements and is best done in tight clothing.  You may want to complete all these quizzes at the same time while you are dressed appropriately.
